What is a co-living home?
A co-living home is a single family home that is rented by the room to individuals, rather than as a whole house. Residents have their own lockable, private space and share common areas such as the kitchen, dining room, living room, laundry room, and yard.
Will I have my own bathroom?
Most residents will share a bathroom, although in some cases a room may have it’s own private bath. We maintain a strict ratio of no more than 3 residents per full bathroom.
How will my things stay safe and my privacy be protected?
Each private bedroom space is protected with a keypad lock. Cameras are placed around the exterior of the home as well as in indoor common areas. And all exterior doors will have their own keypad lock with individual codes for each resident.
Who will enjoy living in a co-living home?
It is not required that you be a highly social person to enjoy co-living- how you interact with other residents is entirely up to you! Although if you ARE a social person, co-living affords great opportunities to make new friends and be a part of a community. The most important traits that will make co-living a great fit for you are that you are respectful of everyone’s right to privacy, safety, cleanliness, and calm in their living space. Ideal residents maintain quiet hours, cleanliness standards, and a commitment to respecting each other.
Can guests visit or sleepover?
Residents may have guests visit during non-quiet hours, but overnight guests are not allowed. This is to protect everyone’s feeling of safety and security, by not having strangers in the home and keeping noise to an absolute minimum during quiet hours.
What are the Basic House Rules?
All of our house rules are in service to the highest functioning of the household, and are intended to make everyone safe and comfortable. Pets that are contained and quiet (i.e. lizards, small rodents, fish) will be considered as long as they stay within the residents private space at all times. Rooms are all single-occupancy, unless stated otherwise. Smoking/vaping of any kind is allowed in designated areas outdoors only. Quiet hours are from 10pm-8am. Don’t eat or use other people’s stuff! No personal items left in the common areas.
How is parking handled?
Each property is carefully selected with parking in mind, as we understand that the greater northern Michigan region is not big on public transportation. All residents will have their own assigned free parking (unless otherwise noted), and in some homes, garage space may be available for an extra charge.
What is included in the rent?
Your monthly rent includes all utilities including high-speed internet, garbage and lawn service, monthly cleaning of common areas, and all common areas as well as the kitchen are furnished and equipped with the basics. In addition, basic household products are provided like toilet paper and cleaning supplies!
